The issue appears to be resolved. LSI originally linked to a file called VMware_certified_ESX_and_ESXi_4.1_driver_9650_9690.zip which contained the driver, LSI_3.26.08.001vm40-offline_bundle-265875.zip. If you follow the link I posted above, it downloads the file VMware_ESX_and_ESXi_4.1_driver_9650_9690.zip which contains the file AMCC_2.26.08.035vm40-offline_bundle-265875.zip, which seems to be what Himuraken was using in his post clarification.

Bottom line, my ESXi 4.1 now loads the 3w-xxxx driver and recognizes the 9690 card.

Well, looks like we’re in uncharted waters on ESXi 4.1. LSI is “swamped with 4.1 support requests” and their engineering department hasn’t passed along installation instructions to the tier 3 support yet. They put this “certified driver” out but it doesn’t seem to work:

I’ve asked to work directly with their engineering dept to see if we can figure this out. I’m running the latest (beta) firmware on my 9690 card and using the driver from the above link… I’ll post back if/once this is resolved.

@Justin I was able to get the bundle to install on ESXi 4.1, however, my 9690 isn't showing up as an available controller. I've just opened a case with LSI and we'll see what happens.

I had used this successfully with an ESXi 4.0 server previously. Sadly, I had to rebuild the OS drive today and this does not seem to work with 4.1.

My server scans the bundle, but doesn’t see any Bulletins to install. Has anyone gotten this working with 4.1 ?

I’ve Found a SQL scanner that can locate any SQL server at your network (multi-subnet) it can also try to brute force the SA user account (or any other account) to make sure the password is not easy.

I am seeing the same issue as reported by Marc except for the logon failure. I am receiving the following message:

Connecting to local media server…
Connected.
Success.
Updating job…
Success.
Waiting for job completion…
JOB ID: {8E05A16C-ABA0-44C0-BFDF-694A944E02FE}
JOB NAME: QABackupTest

Disconnecting from server…
Disconnected.
RETURN VALUE: -1

Does any one have any idea on this -1 return code?

Awesome, …I was actually receiving a more generic error, (e.g. CANNOT CONNECT TO DATABASE). I followed these instructions and used gedit to update the MYSQL password to what I had set it to during the initial setup process.

sudo gedit /var/www/fog/commons/config.php

Everything works great now, ..thanks for bloggin’

Hi there,

I get this message:
Connecting o local media server…

Error: Logon failure: unkown user name or bad password.
disconnecting from server…
Disconnected.
Return Value: -1

I am able to manually connect to the NFS export via the map network drive option in windows….

any ideas would be appreciated

If you want to add the OWA virtual directory to the SBS Web Applications site instaed of the Defaul Web Site, just use the -WebSiteName parameter.

For example,

New-OWAVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion:Exchange2007 -Name “OWA” -WebSiteName “SBS Web Applications”

Thank you very much! I had the same issue and this fixed in perfectly. I also read over the Fog documentation and to avoid this in the future it recommends leaving the password blank while running the installation script
